Christ is your life.
What does it mean that Christ is your life? Paul explains this beautiful truth in Colossians 3:1-4:
If then you have been raised with Christ, seek the things that are above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. 2 Set your minds on things that are above, not on things that are on earth. 3 For you have died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God. 4 When Christ who is your life appears, then you also will appear with him in glory. You have died to your earthly, sinful nature. Your old self was crucified with Christ on the cross, and your sin was brought to nothing--totally demolished and defeated! You have been set free from the power of sin. Death no longer has dominion over you. So how do you live daily in this truth?
Let not sin therefore reign in your mortal body, to make you obey its passions. 13 Do not present your members to sin as instruments for unrighteousness, but present yourselves to God as those who have been brought from death to life, and your members to God as instruments for righteousness. 14 For sin will have no dominion over you, since you are not under law but under grace (Romans 6:12-14).You await an eternal inheritance with God in glory. You have been raised with Christ! And where is Christ? "Seated at the right hand of God" (v.1). Though once you were enslaved to the world, God sent Jesus to redeem you and adopt you into His family. Since you are now God's chosen child, you are also His heir! So how do live daily in this truth?
1 For freedom Christ has set us free; stand firm therefore, and do not submit again to a yoke of slavery...16 But I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh...But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law. 24 And those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires (Galatians 5:1-24).Your life is meant to glorify God and the Son, Jesus Christ, right now. Whether at home (in eternity) or away (on earth) your aim is to please Christ because you have been raised with Him; this new life in Christ starts immediately! You no longer life for yourself, but for Christ, who died for you and was raised to new life. Your life is now God's possession, for God's glory and your eternal benefit. So how do you live daily in this truth?
16 From now on, therefore, we regard no one according to the flesh. Even though we once regarded Christ according to the flesh, we regard him thus no longer...Therefore, we are ambassadors for Christ, God making his appeal through us. We implore you on behalf of Christ, be reconciled to God. 21 For our sake he made him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God (2 Corinthians 5:16-21).
Sisters in Christ, your life is no longer your own...your life is Christ, Himself! What an amazing, awesome truth, that His righteousness and inheritance has been transferred to us by grace. Rejoice in the power of the resurrected life of Jesus, who became sin for your sake and mine. Christ is your life!
Heavenly Father, Your plans and understanding no one can fathom! Thank You for salvation in Christ Jesus, for our eternal inheritance, for the defeat of sin and death and that now we live to glorify Your Son. Help us, O Lord, to stand firmly in our identity in Christ, to walk by the Spirit, to tell others boldly about Christ. We need Your Spirit at work within us; we cannot do it on our own. Praise You for new life in Christ!
