Outpourings: Attitude is Everything

We have all heard this saying before--but is attitude really everything?

Romans 8:37 says, "No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us...". Paul reminds us that nothing, not a thing can separate us from God's love.

What does this have to do with our attitude?

I don't know about you, but as of late I have been struggling to feel at home in my current circumstances.  Nothing is comfortable, the next step is unclear, and I struggle to feel grateful for some of the things that happen.  Believe me, there are moments when the only attitude I wish to cultivate is the "woe is me" attitude.

But Paul tells us that we are more than conquerors.  More than conquerors.  I think this can inform our day to day living--especially in the area of attitude.

If we are convinced that, through Christ, we are more than conquerors, then this truth will guide our thinking and transform our attitudes by reminding us of who we are, and what our eternal purpose is.  Despite our day to day circumstances, we rest assured that our eternity is secured and that our loving God had us in mind when He went to the cross.

I'd say that that is enough to transform our attitudes.  But it will take discipline on our parts to choose this attitude to shine through my circumstances.

"Do not be conformed to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your minds." Romans 12:2

Today, renewing your mind is key to transforming your thoughts and your attitude.  Let us renew our minds by thinking, "I am more than a conqueror.  Christ did this work in love."  Let our attitude be one of laser focus on the One who loves us.  He can take us through anything and everything by His peace.

How do you change your attitude?  How does this transformation alter your outlook?
