Outpourings: Seeking

Do you hear that bird outside your window, chirping away?

Each time I encounter a sweet birdsong, it reminds me that God cares for each one of the birds of the air--and that He cares for me.  I just love how God works through nature, His very own creation, to send us reminders of His infinite love for us.

Today's reading from Jesus Calling seems the ideal outpouring for this day:

"AS YOU LISTEN to birds calling to one another, hear also My Love-call to you.  I speak to you continually: through sights, sounds, thoughts, impressions, scriptures.  There is no limit to the variety of ways I can communicate with you.  Your part is to be attentive to My messages, in whatever form they come.  When you set out to find Me in a day, you discover that the world is vibrantly alive with My Presence.  You can find Me not only in beauty and birdcalls, but also in tragedy and faces filled with grief.  I can take the deepest sorrow and weave it into a pattern for good.

Search for Me and My messages, as you go through this day.  You will seek Me and find Me when you seek Me with your whole being" (p. 216).

John 10:27, Romans 8:28, Jeremiah 29:13

Jesus' challenge for us today is to be aware of Him.  Truly, His presence is everywhere at all times--but distraction and unawareness zap our ability to see.

Where do you find the presence of God today?  How has God shown Himself in the past?

  1. I teared up reading this; I've been having a hard time finding God's presence in these last couple of days; part of it comes from the tragedy in Colorado, and the other part comes from my own personal struggles. But this reminded me that God is always present in all things; it's just a matter of being able to open our eyes.

Another funny thing is that I was going to ask you about "Jesus Calling" when I texted you about devotional journaling :)

    1. Alyx, I just love when the Spirit speaks so uniquely to our hearts! I am so encouraged by your vulnerability and willingness to let Him move you. I highly recommend "Jesus Calling". I am also so glad to hear about the journaling. I just love writing in mine!
