From Burden To Freedom

This blog post was not the original "plan" for today.

But sometimes, the Spirit moves in such a magnificent, compelling, and mysterious way that He urges a person to be flexible (and believe me, I could use some flexibility...desperately).  Normally, Tuesdays feature a person, website, blog, or cause.  But today, I just want to pray.  Get right down to it, and pray.

I hope that you will join me in lifting up this prayer this morning.  Last night, it occurred to me that I was allowing myself to be burdened by many heavy yokes of slavery.  And why, when Jesus has set me free?  Galatians 5:1 says, "It is for freedom that Christ has set us free.  Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery."  Yet, I felt so utterly burdened by a few specific weights.

The Lord impressed His love upon me, as I thought about what was causing such heaviness, burden, fear, and control.  He gave me many verses about freedom to meditate on in the Word.

Whatever you are feeling burdened by this morning, know that the Holy Spirit desires to set you free.  And Jesus has made a way for this to happen by overcoming death and fear.  Would you pray with me right now?

Heavenly Father,

Sometimes, we don't even know what to pray for.  It seems that the heaviness on our hearts, and the yearning for You, are too much at times!  And we don't know what to do with the tension.  But You, Father, offer to speak through us, so I pray you would right now.  Speak life, truth, and freedom through our prayers.

Lord Jesus, between all of Your children, there are still many burdens and areas of bondage that need breaking.  We confess that our nature becomes entangled with the things of this world.  We create idols, we lose focus, and we strive after worldly gain.  Please, Lord, break us of these things this morning, and create in us new hearts--pure hearts.  Forgive our sin nature that grasps for the law of death, despite knowing how free we truly are!

God, today we lay before You our struggles, fears, pain, and discomfort.  We specifically lay before You ________.  We ask that You would conform our minds not to this world, but in accordance with Your divine perspective.  Renew us inside and out.  Mold us into Jesus' likeness.  May we reflect Your beauty, love, and joy.  We long to be women with restful spirits, inviting spirits, joyful spirits.  We long to be women more concerned with the heart than with outward appearance.  We long to reflect all that You are.

Lord, Your Word says, "If the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed."  There is no room for doubt!  Take our doubts and banish them to the depths of the ocean.  Increase our faith.  Deepen our trust in You.  May every day be enough for us, as we choose to dwell in the present time--not in the past, which cannot be changed, nor in the future, which is in Your hands.  Today, You are enough for us.  Your freedom is enough to sustain us, guide us, counsel us, and give us life to the full.  We choose You.

Holy Spirit, You are freedom.  "The Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom."  We rejoice in this truth!  We thank You for setting us free.  We ask for Your divine intervention today, if ever fear or doubt threaten us.  We place Your armor upon our bodies and minds, knowing that righteousness, truth, and peace will guard us.  Give us Your Word as our defense today.

We are clothed in strength and dignity because You created us, You sustain us, and You guide us in Your ways.  We are fully Yours.  May we walk with gentle, empowered hearts and minds.  Thank you, good God, for being fully who You are and never changing.  We love Your steadfastness.  We adore Your love for us.  It overflows.  And we ask that You'd help us to pour it out onto others today.

We love You and we praise Your holy, precious Name.
