As I reflect back upon my week, what occurs to me are the many moments I prayed to God, "Is this where you want me?  Right here, right now, doing this?  Lord, have I missed something?"  I find that question keeps arising within me: Am I missing something?  Yet, just a couple of weeks ago, the Lord very clearly revealed to me that asking that question means I do not fully trust His guidance or sovereignty over my life.

I read Daniel 2 this morning, when God reveals to Daniel what the king's dream means.  Daniel asks for wisdom to discern; God grants it.  And in praise to God:

Daniel answered and said:
“Blessed be the name of God forever and ever,
to whom belong wisdom and might.
He changes times and seasons;
he removes kings and sets up kings;
he gives wisdom to the wise
and knowledge to those who have understanding;
he reveals deep and hidden things;
he knows what is in the darkness,
and the light dwells with him.
To you, O God of my fathers,
I give thanks and praise,
for you have given me wisdom and might,
and have now made known to me what we asked of you,
for you have made known to us the king's matter.”
(Daniel 2:20-23 ESV)

As you reflect on your recent prayers, how has God made known to you what you brought to His feet? How has He revealed the deep and hidden things?

When I stop to reflect, I am humbled.  I realize God has been so clear in many ways--perhaps not in the ways I wanted Him to be clear, but clear nonetheless.  He may take His intentional time, but God will reveal the deep and hidden things if only we come to Him in trust.

  2. Perfect! We both quite out jobs this spring with nothing lined up, which was terrifying! And I wasn't sure what God had in mind, or if I was even hearing him correctly. But we trusted, and he continues to provide beyond our wildest dreams--we've both had more job offers than we can keep track of. Praise Jesus who has a plan for each of us!
