Always Remember

Happy Memorial Day, all.  Today we remember and honor the men and women of our country who have courageously stepped out in faith and deed to protect our freedom.  I feel incredibly blessed to live in a protected country because of such devoted soldiers and leaders.

As we think about people closest to us who are involved in the armed forces of the US, take a moment to consider the freedom we have received from our God.  Our mighty God fights for us strongly every single day; He wipes each tear from our eyes and bottles them up; He goes to the ends of the earth and calls us from its farthest corners; He never leaves us, nor does He forsake us; and He lifts us up on wings like eagles, where we will never grow weary or faint.

Read Psalm 111 this morning; it presents to us all a challenge:

(v. 1-2)  I will thank the Lord with all my heart
as I meet with his godly people,
How amazing are the deeds of the Lord!
All who delight in him should ponder them.

Today, take a moment to ponder the amazing deeds of the Lord, either in the form of prayer, silent thought, or perhaps writing in a journal.  Consider what trials He has brought you through, how He has protected you, and how He has granted you freedom in His Son.  Consider the sacrifice.

Verses 7 and 8 say, "All he does is just and good, and all his commandments are trustworthy.  They are forever true, to be obeyed faithfully and with integrity."  Next ask the Lord, what commands you are having trouble trusting Him in obeying, and then take a step forward to obey in faith and with integrity.

What deeds have you seen the Lord perform on your behalf?  How do His commandments challenge your faith and integrity?

Thank you, men and women of the United States, for fighting for your country.  But most of all, thank God that He gives us the perfect example of a divine God fighting for His people!
