Reflections of His Love

"Therefore, as one trespass led to condemnation for all men, so one act of righteousness leads to justification and life for all men. For as by the one man's disobedience the many were made sinners, so by the one man's obedience the many will be made righteous. Now the law came in to increase the trespass, but where sin increased, grace abounded all the more, so that, as sin reigned in death, grace also might reign through righteousness leading to eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord."

Love Love Love.  For me, these past few weeks (and the entire of season of Lent) focused on God's vast love for His children.  Really, I feel like I should be focusing on the extent of God's love all the time, because there is so much depth to understand!  It's a never-ending reality.  This morning, I was thinking about how God's love frees us to love and serve others (1 John 4:19).  When our focus is no longer on "figuring out who we will be" or "striving to find our purpose", we are freed instead to focus on others: loving them, serving them, giving to them.  God's love frees us to love!

When asking God how to love those who are difficult to love, even how to forgive my own sins and faults, He directed me to Romans 5.  If you have not read the book of Romans in its entirety, I encourage you to read.  Paul gives account of exactly how undeserving we are of salvation, and yet how perfectly God poured out His saving grace all the more for us.  That is how very much He loves!

In no way did we deserve life and eternity and a relationship with the Perfect One; yet, in all God's kindness, in all God's generosity, in all God's humility, he freely loves.  God knows who He is, and because His identity is firm, He is free to pour out love unto us.  This makes me want to jump for joy!  I am free to pour out love to anyone God places in my path, and even to seek out loving those on God's heart today.  We are a reflection of His love...let us love freely.

When has it been hard to love?  When has love come most naturally?  What does God expect of us?
